What is the pattern of the CUET Examination?
The examination has been divided into three sessions, CUET is the revamped version of the CUCET.
Session 1 (Language Test):
Students are required to take this Language Test in one out of 13 languages: Hindi, English, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Assamese, Urdu, Odia, Punjabi, Bengali
Session 2 (Domain-specific subjects): Students need to compulsorily pick at most 6 domains out of 27, which they want to study at the UG level. This includes the subjects such as Mathematics, History, Accountancy, Economics, Computer Science, etc.
Session 3 (Vocationsl/open/ cross-stream test): this is the optional section, which has two subsections: 1 is a general aptitude test, section 2 will be a language test. Where students can pick from 19 uncommon languages which are not covered under session 1(Language Test) such as Chinese, French, Japanese, Santhili, Sindhi, etc.
“Many state universities, deemed to be universities, private universities, and other Higher Education Institutions in the country also use either marks of 12th board or conduct entrance test for admission in UG programmes. To save students from appearing in multiple entrance examinations, conducted on different dates, sometimes coinciding with each other, and to also provide equal opportunity to all students from different boards, UGC invites and encourages all state universities, deemed to be universities, private universities and other HEIs to adopt and use CUET score from 2022-23 onwards for admissions of students in their UG programs,” says the UGC letter.
